Crossroads Extended Day Program Enrollment
Upper Room is partnering with schools for the 2020-21 school year to create an “Out-of-School” programming option for families. The purpose of this is three-fold:
- Provide both a physical and emotionally safe place for children on school days while parents are at work so that children are not home alone;
- Provide academic support while children are outside of the school building; and
- Provide social/emotional learning to children to build resilience during a time of uncertainty as the world navigates a pandemic.
The program is being offered at one location: St. James United Methodist Church, 5540 Wayne, KCMO 64110
Out-of-School programming will be available from 8:00am – 5:00pm and will include activities such as academics/homework support, social/emotional learning, free play/outdoor time, breakfast and lunch, and enrichment activities (ex. chess, dance, STEAM, etc.).
Upper Room will work with each school to determine the best way to provide academic support to each student. This includes support with online instruction assigned by the teacher as well as homework help. Program staff will have regular communications with the school to support assignments and any special needs.
Program days off will follow the partner school calendar.
